"I am afraid that other people do not realize that the one aim of those who practice philosophy in the proper manner is to practice for death and dying”- Socrates
That which we look upon as the beloved beckons our admiration, our attention, our respect.
And so too does our beloved death—the one we were born to meet. It opens its arms to welcome us, to teach us about the sacred ground we inhabit for as long as breath carries us.
“Death is the only wise advisor that we have,” said Don Juan in Carlos Castaneda’s Journey to Ixtlan. The invitation, then, is to cultivate a relationship with this advisor, and to choose—consciously—how we respond to its guidance.
Another invitation:
Gather with us as we cultivate and then deepen our relationship with this wise companion. Let us learn to form the questions that matter and create the conditions to listen—truly listen—from the ears of the heart. In doing so, we may receive a response that will enrich our walk upon the sacred ground of this human life.
